Here's a small sampling of my story...

“Most often it takes a collision with something or someone or with a situation that forces you to shift the course you are on.”
— Caroline Myss, Author and Internationally renowned speaker

It happened swiftly with no warning and although I was in shock when it happened, somehow I knew it would all be okay, everything would work out better than I had imagined. It is a brief reincarnation of the day when an 80 foot beech tree hit the side of our house and the trunk was launched across the length of our roof, a California ranch style home. Sure, I had been praying for a change, but not like this!

As the pieces of the ceiling fell on and around me that day, October 25th, at about 12 pm, it was surreal. Thankfully, no one was hurt, dog and cat included. I was sitting at the epicenter, the kitchen island beneath a dropped ceiling. After the day, I learned that my brother-in-law, who built the dropped ceiling, insisted on using screws instead of nails. Interestingly enough the screws were the only things that held the dropped ceiling in place as every other nail popped out from the weight of the tree. It was instantly evident that our house was in shambles and if I were anywhere else in the home I am not certain that I would be here.

This moment in time changed the course of my life forever. The lessons that we learned from moving from hotel to rental home, to parents' houses, etc. was that of trust, faith, courage, and letting go. We never imagined leaving the home or the area, but that one event changed our perception on everything. Although you believe you are always in control, I learned that I certainly do not have it all.

As we surveyed the damage, I felt incredibly blessed to be alive. It was as if angels had the debris fall around me and not on top of me.

“Grace is an invisible power that comes in
and transforms a moment to something better.”
— Caroline Myss

For several months I contemplated nutrition schools, should I choose this one? Which one? The Institute of Integrative Nutrition (“IIN”) was on the top of my list, but why had I not committed? Well, it could have been fear and I am sure at the time I would use the excuse of money. All of which were no excuse to not begin living the life of my dreams. I immediately enrolled to become a Certified Health Coach within days of the tree fall and because I wasn’t holding myself back any longer, the money appeared.

As I accepted the road that lay ahead, although uncertain and messy as ever, the experience studying at IIN, meeting other aspiring coaches on calls and at events kept me grounded. I had no excuse other than to jump right in and begin practicing what IIN taught so well, primary food (self care, relationships, career, spirituality, physical exercise) and nutrition (the what you place in your body, body = sacred temple) part. I was going through a stressful situation, yet I was given the greatest gift of all. The course gave me confidence about preparing and cooking healthy seasonal meals and I learned hundreds of dietary theories.

More importantly, I learned the importance of listening to my body because we are all different, no two alike. I now want to pass on what I have learned to you. As I share my story with you, I live in a new community in a different state, all because I took a risk and decided to live the life of my dreams. Each and every day begins with a chance to determine our path to wellness. I would like to help you achieve the same dreams for yourself and in the process I can assure you the most loving and supportive guidance. We will set goals and achieve them together because if I can do it in the midst of crisis, a massive insurance claim, and moving from home to home I know you can do it too. I believe in you.
